Update 2025
Hotel Ambatoloaka
e rooms of the hotel are simply furnished. However, the furniture is as good as new. The rooms are kept very clean, although cleaning only takes place until 12 noon. The queen size bed is very comfortable. There is a powerful, quiet air condition and a large safe in the room. The water pressure with hot water is constantly strong. Not so great: there is no door in the bathroom. In the event of a power failure, a generator provides the lighting. The distance to the nightlife is short with 3 minutes.

However, both categories have a balcony. The location is right in the middle of the action; the bars and restaurants are only a few meters away. The rooms are well furnished with AC, large comfortable bed, safe, small fridge, hot water. The AC works very well and quietly. The water pressure in the shower could be better.

Hotel Coucher de Soleil
It is typical low budget accommodation. The simple rooms have no air conditioning, no refrigerator, no wardrobe. The furnishing of the rather small rooms is very simple, but adequate. Safe in the room, fan, bed big enough and comfortable, mosquito net, table and chair, two deck chairs in front of the door, bathroom with hot water. The way up to the hotel is exhausting. But the view is great. The rooms and the garden are clean and well-kept. Taxi is organized from the airport for 50k, breakfast is $3 per person. German and English are spoken in the hotel. The owner is Swiss.

FAQs
Nosy Be – interesting facts for fun tourists
Here you can find some answers to questions regarding Nosy Be, Madagascar.
About Nosy Be: Small island off Madagascar.
Where to go on Nosy Be as a fun tourist?
Is there a nightlife (bars, clubs) on Nosy Be?
Yes there is. But only in Ambatoloaka. I can recommend the following bars and clubs in Ambatoloaka:
Le Taxi-Be bar
There is a great party going on there every day from 8 p.m. Most of the time a live band plays African / Malagasy music. Countless young women throw themselves into tight dresses and high heels. You are spoken to from all sides, smiled at and nudged.
Le billiards
Is another one of those tear-off bars. While Le Taxi Be plays more live music, Le Billard is more of a disco bar – with pool tables, of course. Both bars are right next to each other on the “main street”. Both bars are ideal for making initial contacts.
No comment beach bar
Quite a new bar, but very popular. The bar is very well filled, especially on weekends – with girls!
Taty & Chris Bar
The bar at the other end of the bay is only open on Sundays from 1pm to 11pm. There’s always something going on in front of the bar on the beach. If you take a walk on the beach you will meet many young, pretty women on the way there. From Le Taxi Be you walk along the beach for around 10 minutes.
Djembe discotheque / La Sirene disco
Both discos are a bit outside, north of the center towards Madirokely. If anything, only recommended on weekends.
There are no special prices in the bars. The girls are not employees of the bars, but freelancers and therefore normal guests. Therefore, there are neither barfines nor lady drinks.
How does the fun cost Nosy Be?
Short time:
20,000 MGA to 40,000 MGA. 30,000 MGA are usually accepted by the professionals in the bars.
20,000 MGA is accepted by the ladies on the beach for a massage with extras.
Long time:
Sometimes requires a little more negotiation skills. The usual rate is from 40,000 MGA for an overnight stay. Correspondingly more for a 24-hour accompaniment.
Are there street walkers on Nosy Be?
Not in the classic sense.
In Ambatoloaka, street walkers are most likely to be on the section around Le Taxi Be or Le Billard. You go in and out of the bars, then stand by the dozen on the street in front of it, or walk up and down in front of the two bars.
They are expected to be spoken to. Sometimes, as a man, you are also spoken to yourself. In a casual conversation, you can clarify the most important cornerstones and then move on together.
As early as lunchtime, the massage service providers keep walking up and down the beach.
What transport options are there on Nosy Be?
Taxi Paul Nosy Be
is a reliable provider that does not belong to the taxi mafia, does not rip off and also speaks sufficient English. You can find him on Facebook. Reservation inquiries can also be made here: https://www.facebook.com/taxipaul.nosybe

Are there beaches on Nosy Be?
The beach on Nosy Be is not that perfect. The sea keeps washing up seaweed that remains on the beach. However, this is a natural fact. Sometimes the seaweed is removed, but often it just remains. The beach itself is very nice! A little further north in front of the local luxury hotels and resorts, the beach is of course better cleaned. The water temperature in Nosy Be is pleasantly warm at 25 degrees. The water is clear and clean.
